Leatherworker is a crafting discipline that crafts medium armor pieces usuable by the Ranger, Thief, and Enginer professions. They are also able to craft bags to increase inventory space and craft runes to increase stats for armor.

Master Leatherworkers

NPC's who are able to teach you the leatherworking profession.

  • Edrar - The Grove
  • Abram - Divinity's Reach
  • Hamil - Lion's Arch

Basics of Leatherwork

Leatherwork involves combining Insignias with crafting components in the discovery tab to get new recipes.

Insignia + Crafting component A (i.e. Lining/Sole/Padding)+ Crafting component B (i.e. Upper/Strap/Panel)

Jute and Rawhide Leather 0-75

As a new leatherworker, you will be working with mostly rawhide leather and some jute. The fastest way to level is via discovery rather than making the same items over and over.

Refinements

The following refinements will be useful for this tier

Bolt of Jute 2x Jute Scrap
Stretched Rawhide Leather Square 2x Rawhide Leather Section

Bags

You will also be able to make 8 slot Rawhide Leather Pack immediately when you pick up Leatherwork. Each backpack takes 10 Stretched Rawhide Leather Square so you will need 20 Rawhide Leather Section.

8 Slot Rawhide Leather Pack 10x Stretched Rawhide Leather Square
8 Slot Invisible Leather Pack 10x Stretched Rawhide Leather Square+ 3x Piles of Glittering Dust
8 Slot Oiled Leather Pack 10x Stretched Rawhide Leather Square + 3x Bone Chips

Invisible Leather Pack make the contents it contains not appear on a vendor sell list and Oiled Leather Pack will fill itself with junk items first.

advertisem*nt

The recipe for 8 slot Rawhide Leather Pack is provided but the recipes for the other two will need to be discovered first via the discovery panel

Insignias

You will be able to make three types of insignia when you first pick up Leatherwork. You gain three additional insignias at L25 and six new ones at L50.

Seekers Set

Seekers is the first armor set you will be making. Initially you can only make the gloves, boots, chest, and legs but at L25 you will be able to make the headpiece and finally at L50 you can make the shoulders to complete the whole set.

Leveling

The general idea here is to refine a big batch of raw materials via refinement into crafting components and then make them into the linings/panels etc for each piece. You generally want to avoid making pants/chests because they cost more mats to make. Once you done that, you make a batch of insignias and gain alot of XP by matching each insignia with the crafting components in the discovery tab.

Shopping List

  • 102 Jute Scraps (makes Bolt of Jute)
  • 38 Spools of Jute (vendor brought)
  • 94 Rawhide Leather Section (makes stretched rawhide leather)
  • 12 Tiny Venom Sac
  • 12 Bone Chip
  • 12 Vial of Weak Blood
  • 36 Tiny Totem
  • 6 Tiny Scale
  • 12 Tiny Claw

advertisem*nt

1- 25

First, refine all the rawhide leather and jute scraps

Then, make the following crafting components

  • 4x Rawhide Boot Sole (come in pairs)
  • 4x Rawhide Boot Upper
  • 5x Rawhide Gloves Lining
  • 5x Rawhide Gloves Strap

The extra pair of gloves will be used for when you reach L50.

Now, make these insginias

  • 4x Malign Jute Insignias = 1 Bolt of Jute + 3 Tiny Venom Sacs
  • 4x Mighty Jute Insignias = 1 Bolt of Jute + 3 Vial of Weak Blood
  • 2x Vital Jute Insignias = 1 Bolt of Jute + 3 Bone Chips

Use the discovery tab and discover the recipes for Malign and Mighty gloves and boots. The recipe you recall is

Malign Jute Insignia + Rawhide Boot Sole + Rawhide Boot Upper

Mighty Jute Insignia + Rawhide Boot Sole + Rawhide Boot Upper

Malign Jute Insignia + Rawhide Gloves Lining + Rawhide Gloves Strap

Mighty Jute Insigna + Rawhide Gloves Lining + Rawhide Gloves Strap

advertisem*nt

That is going to leave you with 2x Boot components, 3x Gloves components, 2x Malign, 2x Mighty and 2x Vital Insignias. This should also bring you to L25.

25-50

Make these crafting components

  • 7x Mask Strap
  • 7x Mask Padding

Make these Insignias

  • 4x Precise Jute Insignias = 1 Bolt of Jute + 3 Tiny Claws
  • 4x Healing Jute Insignias = 1 Bolt of Jute + 3 Tiny Totems
  • 2x Resilient Jute Insignias = 1 Bolt of Jute + 3 Tiny Scales

Use the discovery tab, discover the recipes for

  • Precise Gloves
  • Precise Boots
  • Healing Gloves
  • Healing Boots

This should consume all the boots components and leave you with enough components for 1 pair of gloves.

It is time to use the Mask components: you are going to discover the recipe for Malign, Mighty, Vital, Precise, Healing and Resilient Mask (in that order, order for last 3 don't matter). The reason you want to use Malign, Mighty and Vital first it is because it is a lower level insignia and will give less XP as you get higher up in Leatherwork This will leave you with 1x Mask components and 1x Glove components and bring you to L50.

50- 75

Make these components:

advertisem*nt

  • 7 Shoulderguard Padding
  • 7 Shoulderguard Panel

Make these Insignias

  • 3x Healing Embroidered Jute Insignias = 1 Bolt of Jute + 5 Spools of Jute + 8 Tiny Totem

Now, discover the recipes for (in the particular order listed)

  • Malign, Mighty, Vital, Healing, Precise, and Resilient shoulders
  • Malign Embroidered Gloves
  • Malign Embroidered Mask
  • Malign Embroidered Shoulderguard
