Online Asynchronous Classes
These courses will be delivered fully online. There will be no designated class meeting time for real-time instructor/student interaction, which gives you the flexibility to engage with the course materials as best fits your daily schedule. Your learning will be guided by the digital presentation of the course content (e.g., recorded lectures, presentations, outlines, notes) and scheduled assignments. Your instructors will provide you with feedback on assigned work, communicate with you electronically, and be available to meet as defined on the course syllabus.

Online Synchronous Classes
These courses will be delivered fully online. There will be a designated class meeting time for real-time instructor/student interaction, which will be conducted remotely via online platforms from the safety of your home. This real-time interaction may be supplemented by the digital presentation of course content. Your instructors will provide you with feedback on assigned work, communicate with you electronically, and be available to meet as defined on the course syllabus.
Hybrid/Reduced Seating Classes
These courses will combine online delivery and on-campus instruction. This mode of delivery is particularly well suited for the type of learning that requires in-person instructional methods or the use of specialized equipment (e.g., practic*ms or hands-on science laboratory work). Because part of the course will be delivered online, you will spend much less time on-campus than in a traditional face-to-face course. Your instructor will provide the details in the course syllabus. During the limited time that you will spend on campus all present course participants will be following all health and safety guidance from the Return to Campus Task Force, which includes greatly reduced numbers of students at any given time to allow for social distancing, use of face coverings, and other measures as appropriate during all on-campus activities. Exact procedures for these classes will vary depending on the course, on-campus space, instructor, and across disciplines.
Traditional Face-to-Face Classes
This is the course format that most students are already familiar with. Students enrolled in traditional face-to-face courses will attend class in person, on-campus, and on set schedules – the traditional way. Safety will be maintained through conducting classes in spaces that allow for proper social distancing, the usage of face coverings, and other measures as appropriate at all times.
Accelerated Online Programs
Accelerated Online Courses: These fully online courses in the Graduate College will continue as normal and follow their own academic calendar, which can be foundhere.
The Academic Advising Center serves students by helping them understand their educational landmarks and pathways so that they can gain the most of their learning experience at UTRGV and stay on track toward achieving their educational goals.

Expanded Student Support Services
We are doing more than ever to ensure that nothing gets between you and your educational goals by expanding student support programs and resources currently available to assist you across all aspects of your university experience. Here, you'll find information that will help connect you with academic support, financial assistance, career and employment opportunities, health and wellness resources, and technical support.
Student Emergency Fund
The Student Emergency Fund provides students with direct cash payments to stay afloat and continue pursuing their long-term academic goals. Specifically for currently-enrolled students facing a sudden financial hardship.

Mentors encourage and support students in making academic and social connections that help them acquire skills to be successful at UTRGV through two mentoring programs: JumpStart (occurs during summer) and Engaging Peers in College (occurs fall and spring).

The UTRGV Learning Center provides supplementary support to students in their academic work and guides them to the point at which they become independent learners and achieve their academic goals.

Student Health Services
A wide variety of health services including FREE office visits for general medical care. While some services and procedures used to diagnose and treat illnesses may be subject to charges, overall costs are much lower than comparable services provided elsewhere. For your convenience, all charges for services can be posted to your student account.
Student Assistance Program
Feeling overwhelmed? You're not alone. The UTRGV Student Assistance Program is available to assist you with any issues that affect your overall sense of wellbeing and successful completion of your degree.
Counseling Center
The Counseling Center provides free and confidential counseling services to address mental health concerns and to promote personal growth for currently enrolled UTRGV students.
Career Center
The UTRGV Career Center provides career development support, experiential learning and employer relations programs to help students expand their network, prepare for advanced education and transition from college to career.
The Office for Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention works with students, staff, and faculty, and community partners to strive for a campus free from gender-based and interpersonal violence and to facilitate services for victims and survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and interpersonal violence.
The Center for Diversity and Inclusion supports culturally-based affinity groups, enhance programming that builds cultural competence and civil discourse, and provide direct support to students and the DREAM Resource Center provides support services and resources for undocumented and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students.

After that, we want to ensure this pandemic doesn’t negatively impact your progress toward obtaining your degree. We are prioritizing your safety while remaining focused on supporting your educational goals. Course offerings and modalities for this Spring semester have been developed by our deans and faculty in consultation with our health, medicine, and safety experts, following the guidelines established by our Return to Campus Task Force - which provides the framework for safe and healthy operations. We all recognize that the situation with COVID-19 is highly fluid, and we will continue to monitor the pandemic and make any necessary adjustments as we move forward together. We are working as fast as we can to provide all the information our students will need to make sound decisions for themselves, to be successful, and above all, to be safe. This website is updated frequently with additional information and resources, so please refer back to it as needed. Remember, we have no measure of success other than your success. Your progress toward your degree is crucial, and your health and safety are paramount.
Your Health First
We’re continuing to put the health and safety of our campus community front and center. Below are some critical Guidelinesthat - when practiced - will not only protect you but will also ensure our campuses and facilities are habitable for everyone going forward:
- Maintain a six feet distance from others
- Frequently wash your hands and stay home, especially if you are sick or having respiratory symptoms
- Clean and disinfect your personal space and belongings
The use of cloth face coverings is required on campus in all buildings, classrooms, libraries, and laboratories.
Face coverings are also required when you are:
- In your personal office space with others
- Outdoors in a public space near others

COVID-19 Reporting Process
To maintain the health and safety of our on-campus community, we are asking that all students, faculty, staff and campus visitors adhere to the following screening questions based on CDC guidelines pertaining to COVID-19 (coronavirus) transmission.
Have you been in close contact (within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more) of anyone with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the last 14 days?
Do you have a measured temperature greater than 100.0°F, or feelings of fever or chills?
Do you have a new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat, muscle pain or body aches, nausea, vomiting, headache, loss of taste or smell, or diarrhea?

you are not allowed to be on campus.

Enhanced Cleaning Procedures
A clean campus is a safe campus. We’re committed to cleaning our campus facilities in order to protect all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. UTRGV has implemented enhanced cleaning procedures to help disinfect high touch surfaces more frequently:
- Additional focus will be spent on all high contact public spaces and surfaces such as entrance door handles, doorknobs, light switches, counters, faucets, paper towel, soap, and toilet paper dispensers, toilet partition latches/handles, stair handrails, open seating areas, benches, and elevator controls.
- Deep cleaning of areas, such as clinics and/or high traffic contact areas in all campus buildings will occur during the evening shift.
- Disinfectant and paper towels will be provided to departments for cleaning personal spaces. This is being provided centrally through iShop and delivered by Central Receiving. Departments will be responsible for cleaning/disinfecting their personal spaces daily with supplies being provided centrally through Procurement.

Employees who become symptomatic should follow these steps:
- Do not access any UTRGV campus/off campus facilities.
- Communicate with your supervisor.
- Fill out thePreliminary COVID-19 Screening Form, locatedhere.
Donot call Employee Health for COVID-19 appointments.
- Your completedPreliminary COVID-19 Screening Formwill be sent to and reviewed by a member of the COVID-19 Response Team.
- Based on the results, you will be contacted to determine the appropriate plan of action andtold to either quarantine, isolate, test now or in the future, or return to work.
- Employees may not return to work until they are released by a member of the COVID-19 Response Team.
If you are determined to need a test:
- Your information will be reviewed, and a member of the COVID-19 Response Team will reach out to you to provide further guidance.
- Employees may not return to work until they are released by a member of the COVID-19 Response Team.
If you test positivefor the virus:
- You must continue isolation.
- You will get a call from the UT Health RGV clinical team confirming your positive results.
- Contact your Primary Care Provider immediately for continued care.
- You might be contacted by the State Department to identify any contacts you have had.
- If you have trouble breathing, chest pain, etc. go directly to the ER.
Any individual testing positive must self-isolate and will not be permitted to return to in-person activities until:
- 10 days have passed since their first positive test
- Are symptom-free for 3 days without fever
- Have 2 negative COVID-19 tests, 24 hours apart
- Are cleared for return by UT Health RGV personnel
Contact tracing of all positive individuals will be conducted by UT Health RGV personnel.
If you test negativefor the virus:
- You must still quarantine until 14 days have passed.
- Contact your Primary Care Provider for continued care, especially if any symptoms arise.

- Based on the results, you will be contacted to determine the appropriate plan of action and told to either quarantine, isolate, get tested, or return to work.

Students in Interactive Video Classes attend in-person and follow a set schedule with real-time instruction from faculty. Instructors can interact simultaneously with students in specially equipped classrooms across UTRGV campus facilities throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
