Is there any science behind astrology? ›

Astrology purports that astronomical bodies have influence on people's lives beyond basic weather patterns, depending on their birth date. This claim is scientifically false. Numerous scientific studies have disproven that astronomical bodies affect people's lives according to their birth date.

It's a Way to Understand Our Identity

Astrology is seen as a way that one seeks validation for their self-identity,6 or how they think about themselves. Freed agrees, seeing it as a tool for people to use to “develop their unique gifts and use it for confirmation and encouragement.”

Astrology consists of a number of belief systems that hold that there is a relationship between astronomical phenomena and events or descriptions of personality in the human world. Astrology has been rejected by the scientific community as having no explanatory power for describing the universe.

Astrology is a method of predicting mundane events based upon the assumption that the celestial bodies—particularly the planets and the stars considered in their arbitrary combinations or configurations (called constellations)—in some way either determine or indicate changes in the sublunar world.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church clearly states its opposition to such presumptuous sins, and teaches that astrology is a refusal to acknowledge God and his sovereignty. By denying us access to the future, we are ultimately reliant upon him.
