Roger Lee Highfill Obituary - 2021 (2024)

Randleman- Roger Lee Highfill, 73, was born October 12, 1947 in Guilford County, NC to the late, James Ray Highfill and Dorothy Lee Farrington Highfill.

Roger attended Randleman High School in his youth. He held many jobs including a car salesman and an upholsterer, until he finally found his calling with his job at Lowe’s Hardware. He started his own hardware business shortly after, Randolph Building Supply, which he owned and operated until his retirement after 35 years.

Roger spent his Sunday’s fishing or horseback riding when his daughter was young. He enjoyed Nascar racing and found in it a different type of hobby that he really loved. Tex Evans, Franklin Lambert, and Roger all helped Ray Mock Racing through several different drivers including Joe Millikan, Morgan Shepherd, and Neil Bonnet, just to name a few.

Roger departed this life on Saturday, July 17, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmy Highfill; and nephew, Danny Ray Highfill II.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Beth Tally (Allen) and her mother, Sandra Adams; step son, Jerry Whittington and his mother, Kathy Ellen Highfill; grandchildren, Jacob Tally, Alannah Mikhalev(Anton); step grandson, Roger Whittington; great grandchildren, Aislynn Mikhalevand Archer Mikhalev; Roger’s girlfriend, who looked after him for the last year and a half, Kim White; siblings, Jerry Highfill, Danny Highfill and Kathy Highfill; as well as a host of cousins and tons of friends whom he considered family.

A private service for family and close friends will be held at 11:00am, Friday, July 23, 2021, at Level Cross United Methodist Church, 10142 US Hwy 220Bus North Randleman NC27317. The family requests you come in casual attire, or wear your boots and jeans in honor of Roger.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to any of the following charities in Roger’s honor; North Ridge Church’s two foundations which include, project 82, the charity which assists foster kids in Randolph County, or Casas Por Christo, which provides housing for those in other countries that are without housing. Donations to either of these can be mailed directly to the church at 115 Waketa Dr, Asheboro, NC 27203 or may be done online at www.northridgenow.org; The NICU at Moses Cone Hospital where Roger’s two great grandchildren spent over two months at; Level Cross United Methodist Church, 10142 US Hwy 220Bus North Randleman NC27317; or a drug rehab program such as Keaton’s Place in Asheboro as Roger fought this disease for years and not only beat it, but came out wonderful.
