What is 3E in men's shoes? ›

A: These are a way of designating size widths. In Men's sizes, D means Medium; 2E is Wide; 3E is Extra-Wide.

Boots should not be too loose or too tight on your foot. The best fit should be snug (but not tight) around the whole of your foot, with enough room to move your toes and a maximum of a quarter to a half-inch of slippage at the heel.

One of the most important features to look for in a waterproof boot is the membrane. This is a bootie within your boot—another barrier between your feet and the elements. There are different types of waterproof membranes, with GORE-TEX, eVent®, and Hydroguard® being among the most well-known.

With each width increment D > E > EE > EEE the shoe last grows in volume, allowing the fitting of wider bridge / instep. The size difference between EE (Extra Wide) and EEE (Triple Wide) is approximately 4,5 mm (0.18 inch). The difference between D (Normal Width) and the new EEE (Triple Wide) is 13,5 mm (0.53 inch).

Wide/Extra Wide Widths

For women, a men's Medium (D) is considered a Wide width, while anything E or bigger is Extra Wide. For men, Wide typically starts at E and anything greater than 2E is considered Extra Wide.

If your feet are a narrow width (and no narrow sizes are available to purchase), you may need to order a 1/2 size smaller than your normal size. If your feet are a wide width (and no wide sizes are available to purchase), try ordering a 1/2 size larger than your normal size.

We always recommend measuring your foot length to ensure you find your best fit.To best find the length of your foot, measure a straight line from the tip of your big toe to end of your heel. Our rain boots run narrow. For so we do recommend to size up.

If you don't remember the size, look inside the shaft of the boots or on the inside bottom. If this is your first pair of workboots, normally start with 1/2 a size down from your normal shoe size. If you are between sizes, order 1/2 size up.
