How to start cold pressed juicing and starter recipes (1)

If you want to start juicing, here are some tips you must know! I love how I have been feeling since juicing, I have so much energy. See what is best to juice and what juicer you should get! This would make such a great Christmas gift to help with those New Year’s Resolutions!

Cold Pressed Juicing vs Centrifugal

Before you start, knowing the difference between these two is crucial. Otherwise you may get the wrong juicer, and not be happy with the results. Hands down my favorite way is cold pressed. When you are “cold pressed” juicing the heat is applied during the extraction process to maximize nutrients, vitamins, and enzymes. When you do this, it has a longer shelf life and doesn’t separate. I will not drink juice that has separated- it is not appealing and gets a thick consistency. My juice lasts about 4-5 days in the refrigerator. I juice on Sundays and it stays fresh throughout the week and I like to drink them for breakfast or a meal replacement.

Centrifugal juice begins to separate immediately and has a thick, chunky texture to it. I do not like this type of juice and actually when I first tried this kind I didn’t like these types of juice at all! Cold pressed is so much better in my opinion.

Breville Cold Pressed Juicer- The Juice Fountain

The best cold pressed juicer is the Breville Juice Fountain. It is so easy to clean, use, and is super quick. You can basically throw anything in there and within seconds is completely shredded, especially when you have the skin on fruits and vegetables. My favorite tip is to add a plastic bag or ziplock bag to the trash compartment. It makes clean up so much quicker! When I make my almond milk, the almonds get chopped up immediately! This is by far the best juicer I have used. It’s medium priced and rarely goes on sale so when it does you have to buy it!

Juicing Recipes to start juicing

It is so important to wash all fruits and vegetables SO good before juicing since the peels are going into the juice. I use a scratch pad to get all excess pesticides off. Juicing has a great amount of antioxidant and inflammatory properties and stimulates blood flow. Different juicing recipes helps with different things. It does contain natural sugars, so if you need to watch your sugar intake I suggest you consult with a doctor before trying juicing.

Juicing Homemade Almond Milk (1 Gal)

  1. Wash all fruits throughly
  2. Soak Almonds (1 entire package) in medium bowl for 6-8 hours in water
  3. Peel and de-seed dates
  4. Add almonds slowly to juicer
  5. You may need to add water through the blender to keep the juice coming out into the pitcher
  6. Add 2-3 dates
  7. Add a pinch or two of Himalayan Pink Salt (only add a little, it is very salty)
  8. Add water (as much as you want, I use 2-3 cups of cold water) to the pitcher and juicer to make more “milk”

This makes amazing hot chocolate and milk in cereal. You will never buy store-bought again!

Orange and Apple Juicing Recipe

  1. Wash thoroughly
  2. Core and de-seed 3-4 large green apples
  3. De-skin one large orange
  4. De-skin 1/2 lemon (so it isn’t so tarte for both)
  5. Add 1-2 tablespoons of turmeric (a little goes a long way
  6. Add 3-4 cups of water to pitcher and taste

This is so good for breakfast!

Antioxidant/ Inflammatory Apple Juice Recipe

  1. Wash apples thoroughly
  2. Green Apples (3-4 large) de-seeded and cored (if you don’t de-core it makes them more sour)
  3. Add a small amount of ginger (1-2 tbsp) at a time, it goes a long way!
  4. Add water (about 2-3 cups) to water it down so it isn’t so strong
  5. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon to finished jars with the juice

This one is super easy for beginners and tastes great!

Which fruits and vegetables are best to juice

These are fruits and vegetables that you should be juicing. Just like lemons and any other acidic fruits, I like to de skin these so they aren’t so tarte in the juice. I love to juice oranges! Anything that has seeds, I recommend de-seeding as it gives the juice a different taste. Apples, mango, papaya, tomatoes, celery, berries, beets, carrots, cranberries, and spinach to name a few.

These are fruits and vegetables you should stay away from while juicing: bananas, broccoli, cabbage, avocado, pears, coconuts, pineapples (leaves a ton of sugar), and leafy vegetables. I say they are better to blend in a blender as you get more out of them. They don’t provide a lot of juice.

I hope you guys love juicing as much as I do! Let me know anything I may have missed and I would be happy to answer any questions!
