NORMAN, Okla. - The UConn baseball team (34-24) fell to the No. 9 Oklahoma Sooners (40-20), 6-4, on Sunday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The Huskies jumped in front in the first inning with a lead off home run from Caleb Shpur. It was the first lead off home run of the season for UConn and was the third of the year for Shpur.

Paul Tammaro followed with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Luke Broadhurst then shot an RBI single to right to score Tammaro on a close play at the plate.

After the Sooners plated a run in the second, UConn answered with an RBI single off the bat of Korey Morton to make it 3-1 Huskies.

Michael Snyder responded for the Sooners with a two-run home run to even the score, 3-3.

Tommy Ellisen came out of the pen for the Huskies and had a strong evening. The Kimberly, Wisc. native tossed three scoreless innings to keep the game tied, 3-3.

LHP Kieran Finnegan came into a messy situation in the sixth inning with runners at first and second and one out. After a walk, Finnegan got a strike out and ground out to keep the game tied.

The score remained tied until the top of the eighth inning, an RBI single from Scott Mudler and a two-run double from Bryce Madrongave Oklahoma a 6-3 lead.

Tyler Minick hit a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 6-4 game but that is as close as the Huskies would get.

The Huskies and Sooners will play a winner-take-all game at 8:06 p.m. CT / 9:06 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
