How does FlixBus work? ›

Flixbus operates buses or, in many cases, just handles marketing, pricing, and customer service for a commission, on behalf of bus operators. In 2023, FlixBus had revenues of €2 billion and carried 81 million passengers of which 55 million were in Europe, 14 million were in Turkey, and 12 million were in North America.

Munich, Germany-based Flix SE acquired Greyhound Lines Inc. in 2021. The FlixBus brand has been in North America since 2018, and the acquisition of Greyhound brought together two leaders of the travel industry. Last summer, the mobility company consolidated its North American operations in Dallas.

Thanks to our convenient services on board, you will be able to comfortably sleep on your coach for the duration of your trip. Spacious leg room and adjustable seats will allow you to relax and sleep all the way to your destination.

Depending on the trip, either any seat on the bus can be reserved or only individual rows. On some of our partners' buses, seat reservations is not available. If you have reserved a specific seat, you will find your seat number on your ticket.

If you have not reserved a seat, but have been assigned a seat on your ticket, please sit in the indicated seat. If you have not reserved a seat and have also not been assigned a seat on your ticket, you are free to choose any non-reserved seat labelled with a green sticker.

You may eat and drink on the bus so that you feel completely at home and relaxed while you travel. However, please keep your fellow travelers in mind and follow a few guidelines: Avoid strong-smelling foods. Leave your seat like you would like to find it: no crumbs, leftover food or trash.

With FlixBus, buying tickets is as easy as riding the bus or train. In addition to booking tickets online or purchasing them on-board the bus, we also offer you the option of booking tickets via one of our official ticket resellers.

Each bus is equipped with air conditioning, toilet, reading lights and comfortable seats.

On your journey you may transport one carry-on bag and one stored bag item for free.

Our buses travel within a network and are bound to a timetable. Please ensure that you are at the stop at least 15 minutes before departure. If you realize that you're not going to make it, you can cancel your ride up to 15 minutes before departure via Manage my booking.

On your journey you may transport one item of hand luggage and one travel luggage item for free. Label them with your name and address to avoid luggage mix-ups. Your hand luggage is limited to one item with dimensions up to 42 x 30 x 18 cm and weighing up to 7 kg.

To get on the bus is necessary to show the bus driver the ticket (printed or in digital format), as well as your DNI, NIE or passport which justify the ownership.

If you book online, you'll receive a PDF booking confirmation with a QR code that acts as your ticket. If you book through the app, your ticket will be stored there automatically. In either case, you don't need to print your ticket - just show it to the driver digitally and you're good to go.

Items of furniture or parts of items of furniture, electrical appliances, surfboards, car parts, cardboard packaging and animals (with the exception of guide dogs and companion dogs) may not be transported on our buses.
